Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)
What It Does: Helps to brake the car if a collision with a straight-ahead vehicle seems likely.
How To: The Collision Mitigation Braking System is used by pressing the safety support switch, rolling the left selected wheel to the CMBS symbol and selecting it. A beep will sound and a message appears in the multi-information display. The CMBS indicator appears when the system is off.
Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM)
What It Does: Uses a small camera to detect road markings and will alert you if you begin to leave the road.
How To: The Lane Keeping Assist System is used by pressing the main button on the right side of the steering wheel and you will see the LKAS appear on the multi-information screen. Then, press the LKAS button on the right side of the steering wheel and a dotted road outline will appear on the multi-information system.
When the road lines on the multi-information screen turn solid, the system is activated. When the lines are outlined, it is not activated because the vehicle is unable to pick up the road lines due to poor road conditions or inclement weather.
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
What It Does: Helps you maintain a preset following distance.
How To: The Adaptive Cruise Control is used by pressing the main button on the right side of the steering wheel and the ACC indicator will appear on the multi-information screen. Accelerate to the desired speed and then take your foot off the pedal and press set. To adjust the speed, just press the plus and minus button on the steering wheel. To adjust the following distance, press the interval button. Pressing the interval button will cycle through four distances – extra long, long, middle and short.
Once the ACC is on, the vehicle is now on cruise while keeping a safe distance from vehicles in front of you.
Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS)
What It Does: Automatically adjusts steering to bring you back to the center of the lane if you begin to drift.
How To: To use the Lane Keeping Assist feature is simple. All you have to do is drive. The Lane Keeping Assist System will adjust your steering wheel to keep you in the detected lane if you are drifting outside your current lane without signalling.
Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR)
What It Does: Uses a camera to detect and alert you to speed limit signs.
How To: The Traffic Signal Recognition is always on so you won’t need to do anything to turn it on or off. It reminds you of road sign information, such as the current speed limit, your vehicle has just passed through, showing it on the driver information interface and the head-up display.
How To Turn Off The Honda Sensing
Now, you might wonder, “Is the Honda Sensing still worth it if I am not using the features simultaneously?” The good news is you can switch them off. To switch off the RDM, press the button under ECON. In like manner, the LKAS can be switched off by pushing the MAIN button on the steering wheel until the indicators in the instrument cluster are gone.
